PM Kisan Yojana: Rs 22,000 crore transferred to 9.8 crore farmers

PM Kisan Yojana : There is a good news for 9.8 crore farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan Yojana) scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 19th installment to the farmers on February 24, under which about Rs 22,000 crore will be transferred and will be directly credited to the farmers’ account.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed that the Prime Minister will release the 19th installment of PM-Kisan at a function in Bhagalpur, Bihar on February 24. So far, a total of Rs 3.46 lakh crore has been distributed under this scheme and after the release of the 19th installment, this number will increase to Rs 3.68 lakh crore. Under this scheme, every beneficiary farmer gets a benefit of Rs 6,000 annually in three equal installments.

The PM Kisan Yojana, which was launched in February 2019, is the world’s largest DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme. The scheme helps farmers to meet their expenses for the purchase of seeds and fertilizers.

The government is committed to increasing production, reducing input costs, increasing farmers’ income and encouraging natural farming. Around 2.5 crore farmers are expected to participate physically and virtually in the event to be held in Bhagalpur. Apart from this, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the dairy processing unit being set up in Barauni and the Center of Excellence under Gokul Mission and will also inaugurate some rail projects.
